Job Overview

The Employee Relations Lead will be a trusted advisor to our Managers and Leaders, providing expert advice and support on employee relations matters. This role will be responsible for managing employee relations activity across the business, supporting complex cases, and coaching management and leaders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage employee relations activity, including investigations, support at meetings, and documentation.
  • Act as a point of escalation for HR and Leaders on advice, appeals, and complex employee relations matters.
  • Proactively maintain and apply current knowledge of employment law, policies, and practices to manage employee relations cases.
  • Maintain and monitor the employee relations case tracker to ensure timely resolution of cases.
  • Support the production of employee relations data and analytics to share insights with the business.
  • Identify strategic and commercial trends influencing future activity and make recommendations to the Head of HR.
  • Develop and refine HR policies to ensure consistency of approach and compliance with current employment legislation.
  • Ensure regular and effective communication with stakeholders on forthcoming legislation and new policies.
  • Build an effective partnership with stakeholders across HR and the business.
  • Lead and/or contribute to HR projects, including the development and communication of new programs or initiatives.
  • Manage responses to ACAS Early Conciliation matters and Employment Tribunals.
  • Participate in reorganization and restructuring activity, providing guidance and support on collective and individual consultation processes.
  • Support and advise stakeholders on TUPE transfers.
  • Ensure alignment with the Selfridges Diversity, Equity & Inclusion strategy through employee relations best practice.

About You

  • Highly self-driven with depth of experience working in employee relations, case management, and policy-focused roles.
  • Exceptional knowledge of employment law and practical interpretation and application of providing commercial solutions.
  • Experience of working at management/leadership level and effectively managing a small team.
  • Proven stakeholder management experience as a commercial, credible, and assertive subject matter expert.
  • Experience of training, coaching, and developing HR and business stakeholders on employee relations matters.
  • Approachable, resilient, and able to juggle multiple competing priorities.

Location

London based with flexibility. Occasional travel to Manchester, Birmingham, and Leicester.
