The Role: Civil Design Coordinator

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Civil Design Coordinator to join our team in the Birmingham area. In this role, you will play a crucial part in managing the design processes of subcontractors for civil works on one of our construction sites. You will collaborate closely with the Lead Engineer Civil at our Head Office to ensure projects adhere to contract specifications, timeframes, budget constraints, and stringent health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the design processes of subcontractors involved in civil works, ensuring alignment with project requirements and contractual obligations.
  • Coordinate effectively with external and internal design teams to establish a clear design release schedule and monitor progress, mitigating potential risks and delays.
  • Evaluate designs provided by others, facilitating technically sound construction solutions that consider the complexity of the projects.
  • Represent the civil design department in internal and external meetings, contributing your expertise and insights.
  • Provide valuable feedback on construction experiences to enhance current and future projects.

Your Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Architecture with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction industry. Prior experience working with both consultants and contractors is highly advantageous.
  • Proven expertise in civil project management and design coordination, particularly within large-scale civil, industrial, or plant construction projects.
  • A solution-oriented mindset, strong planning skills, and excellent communication abilities combined with effective negotiation skills, resilience, and a structured work style.
  • Comprehensive understanding of QA processes relevant to the civil construction industry.
  • Proficiency in English; fluency in other languages is an asset.
