About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity to make a positive impact in your local community by volunteering with Evolve Housing and Support. As a volunteer, you will work closely with our local teams in our hostels, supporting people who have been affected by homelessness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide professional and friendly support to our customers
  • Develop strong relationships with our customers and help them achieve their goals
  • Assist with administrative tasks and reception duties in our hostels
  • Share your skills and knowledge with our customers and support them in their journey to independent living
Requirements
  • A professional and friendly telephone manner
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work on your own initiative
  • Confidence in speaking with the public
  • An understanding of and empathy with the reasons why people become homeless
  • Commitment to work in compliance with Evolve's policies and procedures
Time Commitment

We are looking for volunteers who can commit to at least half a day every two weeks. We are open to more frequent volunteering, but this is a minimum. Ideally, you will stay with us for at least 6 months, giving you time to get to know the organisation and our local communities.

What We Offer
  • Experience working within the charity sector and gaining new skills and knowledge of the support pathways available for people to access and use
  • A full induction and training, including learning about the causes of homelessness and Evolve's approach
  • The opportunity to learn new skills and meet new people
  • Ongoing supervision and support from our colleagues
  • Travel expenses within zones 1-6 (or as otherwise agreed) and lunch expenses if working over 4 hours per day
  • Job references or LinkedIn recommendation after 6 months volunteering with us
