Key Responsibilities- Foster Positive Relationships: Develop and maintain strong bonds between children and staff, promoting a sense of belonging and well-being.
- Collaborate with Professionals: Work effectively with the wider system of professionals, families, and communities to ensure the best possible outcomes for our young people.
- Lead Recruitment and Development: Oversee the recruitment, selection, induction, supervision, training, and development of staff members, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge needed to provide exceptional care.
- Deputise for the Service Delivery Manager: Provide cover for the Service Delivery Manager as required, ensuring continuity of service and effective management of the home.
- Advocate for Children and Young People: Act as an advocate for the children and young people in our care, ensuring their views, wishes, and feelings are considered and respected.
- Nurture Ambitions and Learning: Support children and young people in developing their ambitions and learning goals, both in and out of school.
- Develop Effective Working Protocols: Establish and maintain effective working and information-sharing protocols with internal and external stakeholders.
- Stay Up-to-Date with Local and National Developments: Keep up-to-date with local and national developments in respect of children and young people who are looked after, ensuring staff members are informed and equipped to provide the best possible care.
- Create a Stable and Secure Environment: Establish a stable and secure base for children and young people, where they can feel safe and supported.
- Ensure Adherence to Medication Requirements: Ensure that all requirements in relation to the safe handling and administering of medication are met.
- Manage Risk Assessments and Plans: Ensure individual and environmental risk assessments are in place and risk management plans are implemented, regularly reviewed, and updated.
- Manage Complex Behaviour: Manage complex and challenging behaviour in an assertive, restorative, and sensitive manner.
- Reduce the Likelihood of Criminalisation: Work proactively to reduce the likelihood that a child or young person becomes criminalised.
- Manage Matching and Admissions: Manage the matching and admissions process to the home, ensuring that children and young people are placed in the most suitable environment.
- Develop and Evaluate Individual Care Plans: Develop, deliver, and evaluate individual care plans, addressing key identified needs and ensuring the best possible outcomes for our young people.
- Recent Experience as a Registered Manager: Must have recent experience of working as a Registered Manager, preferably in a local authority or children's care home setting.
- Strong IT Skills: Possess strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and internal council IT systems.
- Excellent People Skills: Demonstrate excellent people skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with service users, families, carers, and other members of staff and managers.
- Education and Qualifications: Must be educated to degree level, with the NVQ/QCF Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care, or equivalent qualifications.
- Full UK Driving Licence: Possess a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
- Valid Enhanced DBS: Hold a valid Enhanced DBS on the update service.
