An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a pharmacist to become a vital member of our oncology pharmacy team. We are seeking to fill the role of Rotational Pharmacist in Oncology, who will be instrumental in overseeing the pharmacy services dedicated to patients with cancer.
University College London Hospitals, in collaboration with University College London, has been recognized as one of the nation's premier biomedical research centers, featuring an on-site early phase cancer clinical trials unit.
The UCLH Macmillan Cancer Centre, which commenced operations in 2012, includes our bustling outpatient clinics and daycare treatment facilities, alongside our expanding ambulatory chemotherapy services. The newly opened UCLH Grafton Way Building enhances our growing haematology service, which encompasses haematopoietic stem cell transplants and CAR-T therapy. Our chemotherapy production services are conducted in a state-of-the-art facility located within the Macmillan Cancer Centre.
The oncology pharmacy team is seamlessly integrated within the cancer directorate, delivering a high-quality and innovative pharmacy service to patients with cancer.
Key Responsibilities
The primary daily responsibilities will include:
• Overseeing the daily operations of, and contributing to the advancement of, clinical pharmacy services for oncology patients.
• Ensuring the safe, clinically effective, and cost-efficient utilization of medications for cancer patients.
• Collaborating closely with the multidisciplinary team and actively participating in the secure provision of medications to oncology patients.
To enhance and further develop the pharmacy services for cancer patients, we are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist to become part of our dynamic and progressive pharmacy team.
Our ideal candidate will possess:
• A genuine interest in helping us shape and implement our vision for a patient-centered clinical pharmacy service.
• The capability to drive clinical governance initiatives, clinical audits, practice research, service enhancement projects, and more.
• A desire to advance their career within oncology services.
This position will offer comprehensive clinical and technical pharmacy experience in oncology through a competency-based training program. You will have the chance to work across a diverse range of clinical haematology and oncology specialties and environments, including inpatient wards, daycare, outpatient clinics, and ambulatory care.
Candidates should hold a postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy (or equivalent experience) and have post-registration employment experience in a hospital environment, including experience in an oncology specialty.
