Healthcare Assistant

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our team at Hartwood Healthcare. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and supporting our Practice Nurses in the delivery of nursing services.
Key Responsibilities- Undertake new patient health checks and support the Practice Nurse with health promotion programmes
- Carry out baseline observations, such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, and pulse rate, and record findings accurately
- Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring and advise patients accordingly
- Undertake wound care, dressings, and other clinical tasks as required
- Support the Practice Nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics
- Carry out BMI checks as directed and act as a chaperone as required
- When trained, undertake venepuncture, administer flu vaccinations, and carry out ear irrigation under the supervision of the Practice Nurse
- Carry out ECGs as requested and ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
- Provide support during minor operations as required and ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session
- Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with extant guidance and clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice IPC policy
We are looking for a candidate with excellent communication skills, strong IT skills, and a clear, polite telephone manner. You should be able to work effectively as a team member and autonomously, with good interpersonal skills and the ability to follow clinical policy and procedure.
Desirable qualifications include a healthcare qualification (level 3 or 4) or working towards gaining equivalent level, phlebotomy certification, and ear syringing certification.
