Acute Response Occupational Therapist

Yeovil, Somerset, United Kingdom Somerset NHS Foundation Trust Full time

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Acute Response Occupational Therapist to join our dedicated team at Yeovil District Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of patients during their most critical moments.

As an Acute Response Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in supporting patients with urgent and complex needs. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide timely and effective interventions that promote patient recovery and enhance their quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality occupational therapy services specializing in the care of older adults, encompassing both physical and mental health aspects. This may include involvement in projects or pathways focused on frailty, dementia, long-term condition management, and other areas.
  • Employ a person-centered approach to address challenges preventing patients from engaging in meaningful occupations, ultimately improving their functional independence.
  • Advocate for patient choices regarding occupational roles and participation in daily living activities.
  • Provide education and support to empower patients to age well, reduce the risk of deterioration in the community, and minimize readmissions.
  • Train and mentor junior team members and contribute to wider community initiatives.
  • Effectively manage your workload within a fast-paced environment to prevent unnecessary hospital admissions through the Emergency Department and acute care units.

About You

You will be a registered Occupational Therapist with experience in acute care settings. Your clinical reasoning skills and knowledge of hyperacute frailty, dementia, delirium, and Parkinson's disease will be essential. A strong collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team are crucial for success in this role.
