About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, teaching, and assessing students on the Understanding Applied Cognitive Psychology module, a Level 4 module that provides an introduction to cognitive psychology and the major elements of cognition. The module is delivered on Thursday evenings, 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm, for 11 weeks.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver high-quality teaching sessions on the Understanding Applied Cognitive Psychology module.
- Assess student learning and provide constructive feedback.
- Contribute to the development of teaching materials and resources.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of the Psychology teaching team.
Requirements
- A degree in Psychology.
- Relevant teaching experience, working with adult students within the HE sector.
- A good understanding of the needs of part-time adult learners and be able to relate well to their individual needs and engage their interest and enthusiasm.
- Experience of a wide range of teaching and assessment methods.
- Demonstrably effective communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills across a range of relevant contexts.
- A working knowledge of IT, including Word, Excel, and experience of using Moodle.
- Ability to work both as part of a team and independently as appropriate.
- Willingness to engage in reflective practice.
Desirable Qualifications
- Postgraduate degree/s in a relevant area.
- A teaching qualification.
