Deputy Lead Cancer Nurse Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual passionate about cancer services to join the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust's Cancer Centre team as the Macmillan Deputy Lead Cancer Nurse.

Main Responsibilities
  • Deputise for the Macmillan Lead Cancer Nurse, specialising in cancer care, and lead, influence, develop, and expand cancer services throughout the Trust.
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, patients, and external agencies to ensure the delivery of cancer services aligns with national and local strategy.
  • Develop a high-quality, effective, and efficient service to patients and healthcare professionals through leadership, supervision, robust clinical governance, and education.
  • Support the East Midlands Cancer Alliance transformational projects and the Personalised Care agenda.
  • Strengthen and develop collaborative pathways, improving coordination of care across health professionals and organisations.
  • Ensure the cancer workforce has the right skills, training, and behaviours to deliver high-quality and compassionate care.
  • Actively promote diversity and innovative practices to meet the needs of culturally diverse populations.
  • Support patient and public involvement in planning, monitoring, and developing services.
  • Lead on the National Cancer Patient Experience Survey (NCPES), coordinating and analysing results, and presenting at relevant committees and forums.
Person Specification
  • Registered Nurse/1st degree registered with NMC
  • Advanced Communication Skills
  • Relevant Nursing Degree
  • Willing to work towards Master's qualification
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Leadership qualification
  • Extensive clinical experience in cancer care
  • Evidence of innovative practice developments and significant achievements gained
  • Experience in the delivery of services for Cancer patients
