About the Role

We are seeking an experienced contentious probate solicitor to join our busy team in one of our Lancashire offices. The successful candidate will have a passion for litigation and dispute resolution, with a strong focus on inheritance, trusts, and probate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handling a busy caseload with minimal supervision, ensuring timely and effective resolution of disputes
  • Developing strong relationships with clients and professional referrers, providing exceptional client service and support
  • Participating in marketing activities to promote the firm's services, with a focus on probate matters
  • Managing client work allocated by the Head of Department or other fee-earners, ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and quality standards
  • Ensuring the confidentiality and security of all client documentation and information, in line with Law Society and GDPR regulations
  • Achieving agreed levels of billing and time recording per annum, while maintaining a high level of client satisfaction
  • Developing good working relationships with internal and external institutions and organizations, providing support to the team as required
  • Understanding and contributing to the team's objectives, while promoting the firm's values and culture
Requirements
  • At least 40% of previous caseload should be contentious trust and probate related
  • Experience of non-contentious private client work would be advantageous
  • Ability to progress work quickly with an eye for detail, while maintaining excellent client-facing skills
  • Excellent organization, communication, and potential leadership skills, with the ability to prioritize work and meet strict timescales
  • Empathy, compassion, and maturity, with a strong ambition to learn and make a difference to the firm
  • Ability to develop new sources of work and introductions, with excellent IT skills and experience with case management systems
  • Ability to work as part of the team, showing flexibility in attitude and behavior, while working proactively to handle a varying caseload
