About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Security Systems Engineer to join our team at FAFS Fire & Security. As a key member of our service team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our clients' fire detection and alarm systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out routine servicing and maintenance of fire detection and alarm systems in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Identify and rectify any issues or defects with the systems, ensuring compliance with relevant British and European Standards.
  • Provide excellent customer service, communicating effectively with clients to ensure a good understanding of system and site status.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and the Service Manager to enhance the company's reputation for quality and customer service.
  • Support the rota schedule as required to maintain a reliable and responsive out-of-hours service for our clients.
  • Plan and manage your own work, including routine service visits, emergency call-outs, and remedial repairs.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of client paperwork and documentation.
  • Manage and maintain your own equipment and stock, ensuring efficient and economical use.
  • Operate in accordance with company and customer quality standards, health and safety requirements, and relevant industry regulations.
  • Discuss and recommend suggestions for system and service improvement with the Line Manager.
Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of fire detection and alarm systems.
  • Full and detailed knowledge of BS5839 Part 1 and other relevant British and European Standards.
  • A comprehensive understanding of security systems problems and the ability to recommend changes to practices and processes.
  • Basic Electrical Safety training (ECA) and manufacturers' training in relevant equipment.
  • Ability to operate business procedures within the framework of BN EN ISO 9001:2000.
  • Preferred knowledge and capabilities in working with manufacturers' Siemens and Gent analogue fire alarm systems.
