Position Overview

University Hospitals Sussex is seeking a proficient and committed senior professional to join the pharmacy division as a Senior Pharmacy Operations Technician. This role is pivotal in driving advancements and maintaining high standards of service, as the incumbent will act in place of the Operational Lead Pharmacy Technician and oversee a team of dedicated pharmacy technicians and support staff, ensuring exceptional patient care and support throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and enhance the daily operations of the technician-led medication optimization service across all departments and the patient services offered by the pharmacy.
  • Assist the Operational Lead Pharmacy Technician in the administration, organization, and evaluation of a secure and efficient pharmacy service.
  • Support the Operational Lead in supervising both dispensary and ward-based technical personnel.
  • Facilitate a cohesive Medicines Optimization service throughout the facility, engaging all relevant stakeholders to ensure the service aligns with current requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Responsible Person to prepare for regulatory inspections, developing and implementing action plans to address any identified concerns.

Essential Qualifications

  • Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences or an equivalent qualification.
  • Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) certification.
  • Extensive experience in hospital management at a senior level post-qualification.
  • Experience in hospital pharmacy practice as a Medicines Management Pharmacy Technician or a similar role.
  • Proven training experience.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Diploma level Management/Leadership or an equivalent qualification.
  • Experience as an educational/practice supervisor for NVQ Level 2 & 3 assistants and technicians.
  • Nationally accredited in medicines management, MOPs, or AIMMs.
  • Experience as an educational/practice supervisor for Medicines Management and ACPT.
