Senior Theatre Technician
Location: Brighton College
Salary: £33,000 per annum
Brighton College is seeking to appoint a Senior Theatre Technician on a permanent basis.
The Senior Theatre Technician will support the departments of Dance, Drama & Music in their day-to-day operations for lessons, performances, and other events.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the technical day to day running of the Cairns Theatre and Drama Studio;
Assist in managing, maintaining, and operating the College's Technical equipment across the College;
Assist with the delivery of all lighting and sound aspects for GCSE and A-level examination performances and assist on all College productions;
Provide technical support as required for academic drama and music lessons and other events taking place in the Performing Arts facilities;
Provide technical support to facilitate the smooth running of all College performances, assemblies, live events, Open Mornings, Options Evenings, and taster events;
Offer front of house services for events during term time as directed by the Theatre Operations Manager;
Adhere to the College's health and safety requirements in handling Technical and Performing Arts equipment;
Promote and safeguard the welfare of the children and young people with whom you come into contact;
Any other reasonable management request.
Person Specification:
Experience and knowledge of technical work in a theatre or entertainment environment;
Experienced Lighting / Sound Technician;
Knowledge of AV equipment and video/audio editing software;
Ability to work unsupervised and to take responsibility for own actions. Ability to be proactive in seeking solutions to enable conclusion of tasks;
Ability to remain calm under pressure, organise time effectively, creating work schedules, prioritising workload, and meeting deadlines;
Basic carpentry/prop making skills;
Actively fit to work alone in moving equipment around the college;
The ability to think ahead and draw up schedules of review and follow-up, as necessary;
Ability to work accurately with an eye for detail.
Hours of Work:
The role will operate on an annualised hours basis. This is a full-time post, based on the equivalent of 40 hours per week, worked across the whole year. Hours will include early mornings, evenings and weekends.
The role will require the candidate to work more than their scheduled hours during peak periods which will be offset during quieter times.
Weekly hours will be agreed with the Head of Stage via a rostering system issued three weeks in advance.
Remuneration:
The salary for this role will be £33,000 per annum.
Holidays:
23 days, plus bank holidays increasing to 28 days plus bank holidays after 2 years of service.
