Research Assistant in Wave Energy Converter Development

Job Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly skilled Research Assistant to join our team at Heriot-Watt University in the field of wave energy converter control. As a Research Assistant, you will be responsible for developing and testing control engineering algorithms for wave energy converters. This includes working on software and hardware testing environments to deliver key project milestones. Collaboration with our team and external participants is crucial to ensure successful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and test controllers for wave energy converters
- Collaborate with project partners and external stakeholders
- Conduct control engineering testing
- Assist in software development and documentation
- Participate in scientific paper preparation
- Test wave energy control algorithms
Requirements:
Essential:
- Minimum of a Master's degree in Engineering or related field
- Experience in the marine renewable energy sector
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Desirable:
- PhD or equivalent research experience
- Expertise in control engineering and wave energy dynamics
- Experience in open-source software development
- Effective communication skills for public presentations
