The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in a research initiative funded by the Wellcome Trust, collaborating within the School of Infection and Immunity under the mentorship of Professor Rick Maizels, the Principal Investigator.
This position involves being part of a dedicated team focused on exploring parasite proteins as innovative treatments for inflammatory conditions such as allergies and colitis, with an emphasis on understanding immune cell interactions with these proteins.
Key Responsibilities- Design and execute assigned research tasks independently or collaboratively, aligning with project goals and research methodologies.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of research findings, including data analysis and interpretation, while managing records and databases, and preparing progress reports as necessary.
- Enhance your research profile and that of the University of Glasgow/Institute/Research Group by contributing to high-quality publications in reputable journals, aiming to maximize research impact in terms of societal and economic benefits.
- Participate in presenting research at national and international conferences, as well as internal seminars and workshops, to elevate our research visibility.
- Assist in identifying potential funding opportunities and aid in crafting proposals to secure financial support from various sources for future research endeavors.
- Engage with colleagues and take part in collaborative meetings, seminars, and workshops across the research group, institute, college, university, and broader community.
- Support the organization, supervision, and training of undergraduate and/or postgraduate students and less experienced project team members to foster their development.
- Handle administrative responsibilities related to the research group's activities, including budget management and expenditure tracking.
- Stay informed about current developments and advancements in the relevant field.
- Participate in ongoing professional development activities as appropriate.
- Undertake any additional reasonable duties as assigned by the Head of School.
- Contribute to enhancing the University's global profile in alignment with its Strategic Plan.
