Job Title: Apprentice - Maintenance Engineer

About the Role: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Engineer to join our team at CV Library. As a key member of our sawmill operations, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and optimization of our equipment to achieve safe and efficient production.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the operation, installation, and maintenance of sawmill machinery, including saws and conveyors, to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  2. Troubleshooting and Repair: Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues to enhance productivity and minimize downtime.
  3. Preventive Maintenance: Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for all equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure smooth operations.
  4. Process Optimization: Assist with the optimization of the production process and machinery to improve throughput and efficiency.
  5. Safety and Compliance: Conduct regular inspections to ensure all machinery complies with safety regulations and standards.
  6. Technical Support: Provide technical support to other sawmill personnel, including guidance on the safe and efficient operation of machinery.
  7. Record Keeping: Maintain records of maintenance, repairs, and equipment performance.
  8. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with external contractors and suppliers as needed.
  9. Professional Development: Participate in training and development to keep up-to-date with technological advancements in sawmill machinery and control systems.
Requirements:
  1. Industrial Experience: Experience working with large industrial machinery.
  2. Electrical Engineering Bias: Electrical Engineering bias.
  3. Troubleshooting Skills: Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  4. PLC Programming: Basic knowledge of PLC programming (beneficial but not essential).
  5. Technical Knowledge: Ability to understand technical drawings and specifications.
  6. Health and Safety: Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to machinery operations.
  7. Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  8. Communication: Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  9. Proactive Approach: Proactive approach to maintenance and continuous improvement.
