About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Deputy General Manager to join our team at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a vital role in supporting the General Manager in the day-to-day operational and performance management of the business unit.

Your primary responsibility will be to provide effective leadership and contribute towards the achievement of the financial forecast and delivery of contracted activity. You will also be responsible for implementing local and national policy and strategy, as well as delivering service development.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage the identified part of the Business Unit, including ward areas, assessment units, outpatient areas, day case and theatre suites, and administrative areas.
  • Support the General Manager in leading on projects and ensuring the delivery of key performance targets within the service area.
  • Develop and implement systems for monitoring demand, trends, and ensuring staffing levels are appropriate for the demand level.
  • Work with our partner organisations as part of the Integrated care system and support the development of the Neurodevelopmental and Neuro disability pathway.
Person Specification
  • First degree or equivalent.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
  • Evidence of being a team-player with a clear ability to stand back and view the big picture when necessary.
  • Ability to present complex data in a meaningful way to a range of professional groups.
  • Proven record of robust performance management and demonstrable experience of working in an operational manager post.
  • Well-developed IT skills to manage and report on complex performance management information.
