Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Personal Support Assistant to provide enriching experiences for a 15-year-old individual diagnosed with Down Syndrome and Autism. This role is essential in facilitating play and learning opportunities that cater to his unique needs and interests. The individual enjoys outings to the cinema and creative activities such as drawing in cafés.
Although his speech is delayed, he effectively communicates through Makaton signs, visual aids, and verbal expressions. The role involves creating a supportive environment that encourages his engagement in preferred activities both at home and in the community.
Main Responsibilities:
- Facilitate communication and support during activities
- Accompany him to local venues and favorite spots
- Engage through play and artistic activities to promote happiness and comfort
Essential Qualities:
- Calm and confident demeanor
- Resilience in managing anxiety and occasional challenging behaviors
- Willingness to undergo training in Makaton, Down Syndrome, and Autism
- Initiative and adaptability
- Sensitivity to emotional and physical needs
- Effective communication with family and providing updates
- Punctual and consistent attendance
- Commitment to confidentiality
- Experience or interest in working with children with additional needs
- Access to a personal vehicle is preferred.
Skills Required:
- Ability to work independently
- Strong communication and listening abilities

Additional Requirements:
