About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Psychiatry Consultant to join our team at South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality psychiatric care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out psychiatric assessments in a variety of settings, working flexibly with other members of the team.
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day psychiatric and medical care of patients under the care of the Consultant.
  • Maintain adequate written documentation of all medical and psychiatric examinations of patients, ensuring a professional and ethical stance towards patients, their relatives, other team members, and other agencies.
  • Deliver evidence-based treatments and work flexibly, be accessible, and provide an appropriate response to patients.
Person Specification
  • Essential:
    • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
    • Holds and will use a valid UK driving license.
    • Excellent knowledge in specialty.
    • Excellent clinical skills using a bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
    • Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
    • Makes decisions based on evidence and experience, including the contribution of others.
    • Able to meet duties under the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.
    • Able to provide clinical leadership to a multi-professional team and liaise with a wide variety of agencies.
  • Desirable:
    • Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to post within the NHS or comparable service.
Requirements
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a license to practice at the time of appointment.
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register for older adult psychiatry or within six months of gaining CCT.
  • Approved clinician status or able to achieve within three months of appointment.
  • Approved under S12 or able to achieve within three months of appointment.
