About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Psychiatry Consultant to join our team at South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality psychiatric care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out comprehensive psychiatric assessments in a variety of settings, working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals.
  • Provide day-to-day psychiatric and medical care to patients under the care of the Consultant.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed written documentation of all medical and psychiatric examinations, ensuring a professional and ethical approach to patient care.
  • Deliver evidence-based treatments and interventions, prioritizing patient-centered care.
  • Work flexibly and be accessible to patients, providing a responsive and supportive service.
Person Specification
  • Essential:
    • Full registration with the GMC and a valid license to practice.
    • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
    • Excellent knowledge and skills in psychiatry, with a strong bio-psycho-social perspective.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
    • Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty, making informed decisions based on evidence and experience.
  • Desirable:
    • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.
    • MRCPsych or additional clinical qualifications.
    • Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience in psychiatry, relevant to the post.
