Job Description

Job Title: Commercial Construction Estimator

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Construction Estimator to join our team at Esh Group. As a key member of our commercial team, you will be responsible for the commercial management of contracts specific to the construction sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Commercial Management: Manage the commercial aspects of construction contracts, including procurement, contract administration, and payment management.
  2. Contract Administration: Administer sub-contracts, ensuring timely and accurate assessment and payment of sub-contractors' applications.
  3. Quantity Measurement: Measure quantities on site and from drawings, as required.
  4. Variation Management: Evaluate and manage variations, provisional sum expenditure, and monitor the same.
  5. Civils Management: Manage weekly direct labour and plant subcontractor payments, if required.
  6. Reporting: Produce accurate internal valuations, sub-contract liabilities, and cost value reconciliations in line with the commercial reporting timetable.
  7. Record Keeping: Maintain good quality and accurate records.
  8. Change Management: Identify and notify delays in tandem with the project team.
  9. Cost Management: Manage and minimize non-recoverable costs on projects.
  10. Price Negotiation: Price and effectively agree all project variations.

General Responsibilities:

  1. Health and Safety: Contribute to maintaining high standards of health and safety in all activities, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
  2. Personal Development: Take a full role in the implementation of personal development through appraisals and participate in identified training or development opportunities.
  3. Esh Values: Demonstrate Esh Values and behaviours (Care, Trust, Integrity, Respect, Working Together) towards all colleagues, clients, third parties, and the supply chain.

Key Performance Indicators:

  1. Achieve internal and external deadlines.
  2. Produce accurate internal and external reports.
  3. Implement best commercial practice to maximize commercial performance.

Requirements:

  1. Qualifications: Relevant HND, Degree in Quantity Surveying, Built environment or equivalent, desirable.
  2. Experience: Minimum of three years' experience working on projects within the construction sector.
  3. Knowledge: Working knowledge of contract conditions such as NEC, JCT.
  4. Skills: Proficient in the use of MS Office.
  5. Certifications: Appropriate CSCS card - desirable.
  6. License: Valid Driving licence.
