Job Description

Naylor's Equestrian LLP is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Shift Manager to lead our 24/7 Engineering operation. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing clear direction and leadership to our multi-disciplined engineering teams, ensuring the delivery of key service elements such as planned preventative maintenance, fault rectification, and fault eradication.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a large team of multi-disciplined engineers, including multi-skilled engineers, service engineers, and engineering assistants, to ensure the delivery of key service elements.
  • Provide hands-on fault-finding and support to the engineering teams to aid the resolution of issues and completion of planned maintenance tasks, installations, and project work.
  • Undertake day-to-day management of third-party contractors to ensure delivery of key service KPIs and project delivery.
  • Perform all people aspects of managing a shift, including disciplinaries, performance management, time management, and return-to-work procedures.
  • Act as proxy for the Sites Engineering Manager as required, managing all duties.
  • Promote, demonstrate, and drive the company values throughout the engineering function.
  • Work collaboratively with operations and support areas, including operations leads, HR, control room, health and safety, training, building services, and planning, to advise and support on resource and technical issues.
  • Develop, support, and appraise direct reports, ensuring performance expectations are delivered and team engagement is demonstrated.
  • Assess team training needs and facilitate training to support both individual and business objectives.
  • Manage within company guidelines on all policies and procedures, including absence, performance, investigations, disciplinary and grievance, health and safety, and security.
  • Drive the department's adherence to safe working practices throughout day-to-day engineering management activities in areas of high specialization.
  • Audit and ensure team adherence to visual and housekeeping standards.
  • Provide personable people management, motivation, and structured development of the team through performance reviews to ensure delivery of objectives through team working.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience of managing multi-disciplined engineering teams within an automated warehouse or FMCG environment.
  • Time-served with a minimum HNC in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experienced in both mechanical and electrical fault diagnosis and having a working knowledge of SCADA and PLC-based control systems (Siemens).
  • Working at heights and rescue at height certified (training will be provided).
  • Clear understanding of policies and procedures within which an operation is managed.
