Position Summary

We are currently seeking a Technology Risk & Controls Manager to be based in Cardiff.

This role is pivotal in developing and implementing our risk framework, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of our technology risk profile. You will also coordinate assurance activities with both external and internal audit teams, operational risk, and controls assurance functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary technology controls officer, ensuring adherence to IT controls through thorough testing and design assurance reviews.
  • Engage constructively with control owners to enhance the existing self-attestation process for controls.
  • Proactively identify, document, and evaluate technology risks and issues affecting the business, providing regular updates to the technology risk committee on significant risks and emerging issues.
  • Define and generate Key Risk Indicators (KRI) and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to facilitate ongoing risk monitoring.
  • Lead engagements for external control assurance reviews as part of annual commitments, including AAF, SOC, CASS, and Statutory External Audit.
  • Oversee the management of access provisioning, de-provisioning, and modification requests handled by the Identity & Access Management Operations team.
  • Conduct the Risk & Controls Self-Assessment (RCSA) process, performing detailed inherent and residual risk assessments.
  • Support the execution of internal audits, operational risk reviews, and compliance assessments related to technology management processes.
Candidate Profile:

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Possess strong skills in delivering, managing, and ensuring the quality of Information Security assurance activities.
  • Have a solid understanding of IT controls and risks, enabling the identification and evaluation of control effectiveness and potential gaps.
  • Can effectively manage complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Hold relevant Information Security and/or Information Technology certifications (CISA, CISSP, CISM, or equivalent) which would be advantageous.
  • May currently be in a consulting role and seeking an opportunity to transition to an in-house position.
