Position Overview
The Waste Management Compliance Lead is responsible for the formulation and execution of waste management policies, procedures, and systems that align with the core values and operational frameworks of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (UHB).
This role ensures adherence to statutory waste regulations and meets both national and local sustainability targets.
Key Responsibilities
As the leader of the waste management strategy, you will:
- Guide the development of waste management strategies that support the operational goals of the Capital, Estates, and Facilities Service Board.
- Oversee the implementation of quality and safety plans to ensure high standards of service delivery that cater to the needs of all patients.
- Manage financial resources effectively, ensuring all transactions are conducted with integrity and in accordance with established policies.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the Service Board as a senior manager.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- A Master's Degree or equivalent experience in waste management or facilities management.
- IOSH Managing Safely certification or equivalent qualifications.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing waste strategies within complex organizations.
Desirable:
- NEBOSH General Certificate.
- Chartered membership of a recognized professional institution.
Skills and Attributes

- Expertise in managing change and utilizing information management tools effectively.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in service planning and problem-solving.
- Ability to innovate and translate ideas into practical solutions.
Desirable:
- Proficient stakeholder management skills.
