About the Role
The Manufacturing Engineer will play a key role in driving process improvement and technical excellence within GKN Aerospace's manufacturing operations. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing robust manufacturing processes, ensuring high-quality products, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement manufacturing process solutions to complex problems, ensuring high-quality products and efficient production processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement production planning, from original concept through to production.
- Design and implement Lean initiatives to continuously improve production processes and reduce waste.
- Accountable for product development, first article development, configuration changes, build process definition, and implementation.
- Exemplify a safety-first mindset and ensure compliance with GKN Aerospace's Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and standards.
- Deliver technical support for manufacturing process development and integration for production.
- Utilize root cause analysis, preventative, and corrective action to reduce/eliminate non-conformances.
- Maintain positive, team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or 5+ years of manufacturing engineering or other relevant manufacturing experience.
- 2 years of manufacturing engineering experience.
- Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder/Permanent Resident.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous GKN experience.
- Fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly experience.
- Experience with NX.
- Aerospace experience.
- Working knowledge of quality system models such as ISO9000, AS9100, or D1-9000.
- Training and/or experience in lean tools and techniques.
- Project/Program Management.
- Familiarity with AS9145 APQP process or equivalent.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend blueprints, ASME Y14.5.
- Ability to use test equipment and inspection equipment.
- CAD and/or various computer systems, NX preferred.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
- Fluent in English language, both written and spoken.
