Job Title: Locum Audiologist

Reporting to: Regional Manager

Rate: Flexible day rates available

Hours: 3-5 working days per week

About the Role

As a domiciliary audiologist with OutsideClinic, you will play a crucial role in providing audiological testing services to patients in the comfort of their homes. You will be trusted to make autonomous decisions and valued for your professional expertise.

You will be part of a clinical team that provides support to the NHS and our most vulnerable patients. Your role will involve managing a daily schedule of adults with hearing loss, conducting Pure Tone Audiometry, and performing tests for non-organic hearing loss.

Clinical Responsibilities
  1. Manage a daily schedule of adults with hearing loss, prioritizing patient care and ensuring timely completion of tasks.
  2. Conduct Pure Tone Audiometry, including masking as required, to accurately assess patients' hearing abilities.
  3. Perform tests for non-organic hearing loss, using evidence-based practice to inform your decisions.
  4. Test for Noise Induced Hearing Loss, providing patients with valuable insights into their hearing health.
  5. Take aural impressions and select appropriate ear moulds, ensuring a comfortable and effective fit for patients.
  6. Select and program/fitting of appropriate hearing instruments, utilizing Real Ear Measurement equipment to validate and verify hearing instrument fittings.
  7. Provide a full, structured, patient-centric aftercare programme, ensuring maximum satisfaction and optimal hearing outcomes.
  8. Offer appropriate support for individuals with hearing loss, recognizing the emotional and psychological impact of hearing impairment.
  9. Use appropriate outcome measures, both subjective and objective, to ensure hearing instruments are providing maximum benefit and utilize evidence-based practice to support this.
  10. Employ Real Ear Measurement equipment to validate and verify hearing instrument fittings, ensuring accuracy and precision.
  11. Commit to lifelong learning, staying updated with the latest developments in Audiology and applying this knowledge to improve patient care.
  12. Be responsible for daily maintenance of test equipment, arranging calibration as needed to ensure optimal performance.
  13. Provide ear care and wax removal where required, utilizing appropriate training and protocols to ensure patient safety.
  14. Follow best practice principles regarding infection control in the workplace, maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients and colleagues.
Professional Responsibilities
  1. Meet the appropriate level of expertise to register with the HCPC as a Hearing Aid Dispenser, receiving training and support as needed to ensure compliance.
  2. Demonstrate the ability to reflect on own practice with peers and management, identifying own strengths and development needs.
  3. Be responsible for own professional actions, recognizing own professional boundaries and seeking advice from others when necessary.
  4. Contribute as part of a clinical team, discussing client needs with colleagues and working collaboratively to achieve optimal outcomes.
  5. Attend appropriate supervision and training to maintain skills and knowledge, expanding Scope of Practice while ensuring compliance with HCPC CPD requirements.
  6. Maintain own CPD records in a form acceptable to the HCPC, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  7. Understand the principles of clinical governance and its application to professional practice in Audiology, ensuring a patient-centered approach to care.
  8. Ensure staff are aware and comply with all Infection Control Policies and Procedures, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  9. Ensure staff are aware and comply with Health and Safety and Risk Management Policies and Procedures, minimizing risks and ensuring a secure working environment.
Your Skills & Experience
  1. Effective and flexible communicator, able to interact with multiple parties and adapt to changing situations.
  2. Proficient in using digital systems, with attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  3. Confident driver with at least two years of driving experience, able to find multiple locations and navigate challenging routes.
  4. Ability to work calmly under pressure, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  5. Pragmatic approach to problem-solving, utilizing creative thinking and analytical skills to resolve complex issues.
  6. Organized and able to multitask, managing multiple responsibilities and deadlines with ease.
