JOB OVERVIEW

Wood PLC is seeking a Senior/Principal Cost Engineer to enhance our operational capabilities. This role is integral to the effective management of project finances, ensuring precision in budget preparation and expenditure tracking throughout the project lifecycle.

Objective of the Role:

The primary responsibility is to prepare and report on project cost budgets while meticulously tracking and managing project expenditures. This ensures robust financial control and compliance with both contractual obligations and Wood's internal standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and maintain the Project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS).
  • Collaborate with various Project Controls disciplines to assist in developing project budgets, ensuring alignment with the Basis of Estimate.
  • Work closely with the Planning team to ensure accurate budget control and forecasting, integrating change requests into project schedules.
  • Coordinate with procurement and finance to ensure timely and accurate capture of costs related to materials, subcontractors, and labor.
  • Engage with engineering and construction teams to stay informed about project activities and their financial implications.
  • Manage the work approval process, ensuring correct cost code allocation and budget setup.
  • Utilize appropriate software to review and maintain project cost budgets.
  • Monitor cost commitments and expenditures throughout all project phases.
  • Provide detailed project cost performance reports as per project requirements.
  • Facilitate project cost close-out processes and participate in risk analysis sessions.
  • Mentor and guide junior cost personnel, fostering their professional development.

Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical or business discipline or equivalent experience.
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Proven experience in cost management.
  • In-depth knowledge of cost management software and principles.
  • Strong understanding of project execution procedures related to cost management.
  • Ability to develop and manage project cost budgets and change estimates effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
