About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Healthcare Records Assistant at Avon & Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Filing and retrieving healthcare records on a daily basis, adhering to Trust policies and procedures.
  • Assisting in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of healthcare records while transferring between departments.
  • Ensuring incoming and outgoing mail is properly sorted and dispatched.
  • Liaising with professional and administrative staff within the Trust on healthcare records-related matters.
  • Receiving and responding to telephone calls and inquiries regarding healthcare records.
  • Providing administrative support in response to subject access requests and ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Collaborating with the Records Manager to gather information for clinical and administrative processes.
  • Monitoring stationery supplies and reordering as necessary.
  • Providing assistance to colleagues to ensure the efficient operation of the healthcare records department.
Requirements
  • Good standard of education, minimum 3 GCSEs or equivalent.
  • Computer literacy with knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of health records and systems.
  • Organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • Good understanding and working knowledge of data protection regulations.
  • Ability to work under own initiative and experience of dealing with patients and relatives.
  • Flexible and able to work in a team environment.
  • Full driving license.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Knowledge of mental health records and minimum of two years' experience in a similar role.
  • Experience of subject access requests.
