Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: South Yorkshire

Salary: £40,000 - £55,000 (Depending on experience)

Type: Full-time, Permanent

Tiro Partners is seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing and developing bespoke engineering solutions for rail depots and workshops.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop innovative mechanical solutions for rail depot and workshop applications
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to manage projects from concept to completion
  • Create detailed drawings, BOMs, manuals, and technical documentation
  • Travel to rail depots for meetings, surveys, and installations
  • Foster positive relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards and risk management principles

Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Strong experience in designing and installing lifting equipment
  • Proficient in SolidWorks (including PDM and FEA)
  • Project management experience
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Full UK driving license

Desirable:

  • Railway industry experience
  • Fabrication design experience
  • Knowledge of machine control systems and PLCs
  • Chartered engineer status
