About the Role

AWE Plc is seeking a highly skilled Atmospheric Dispersion Scientist to join our Radiological Assessment Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading and participating in the research and development of tools to predict the hazards associated with atmospheric releases of radiological material.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and run atmospheric dispersion models to predict the spread of radiological material
  • Conduct consequence assessments for specific scenarios of interest
  • Participate in experimental trials and collaborate with international partners
  • Research and model source term parameters
  • Plan and deliver technical assessments using appropriate methodologies
  • Engage with technical communities across AWE
  • Contribute to interactions with international partners and external stakeholders
Requirements
  • PhD in physics, maths, computer science or an equivalent STEM-based discipline
  • Experience in code development for scientific programming
  • Experience in Python and/or MatLab
  • Methodical approach in undertaking technical research and conducting technical assessments
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

Security Clearance

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role. This will be funded by AWE.
