Job Overview

LTM Recruitment Specialists Ltd is seeking a highly skilled MEP Technical Manager to join their team. As a key member of the company, you will be responsible for managing design-related issues across multiple sectors in both pre-construction and construction stages of individual projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Document Management System (DMS)
  • Complete the Contract Documents checklist together with the pre-con and commercial team.
  • Onboard relevant consultants to the DMS.
  • Ensure stakeholders have the required training and a project-specific user guide is distributed for using the DMS.
  • Review design/specifications/tech subs/RFI's through the workflow approval stages using the DMS.
  • Ensure timely drawing review within agreed individual project time constraints.
Document Control
  • Liaise with Document Controllers to ensure individual projects are set up on the DMS in accordance with client requirements.
  • Liaise with Document Controllers to ensure design and specifications are QA-checked and uploaded in a timely manner.
Pre-Construction
  • Attend tender handover meetings, where required.
  • Review Employers Requirements (ERs), where requested to do so.
  • Assist in reviewing consultant's design and performance specification, where requested to do so.
  • Identify key risk items and anomalies, where requested to do so.
  • Assist in identifying scope gaps, where requested to do so.
  • Identify potential cost-saving ideas/Value Engineering opportunities, where requested to do so.
  • Identify key items affecting programme, where requested to do so.
  • Identify long lead-in or long design periods affecting programme.
  • Assist in preparing a project-specific risk register, where requested to do so.
  • Assist Head of Design and Pre-Construction team with input into tender documents, where required and requested to do so.
  • Assist Head of Design and Pre-Construction team with answering design-related questions during PQQ tender bids, where requested to do so.
  • Assist Head of Design and Pre-Construction team with preparing and collating Contractors Proposals (CP's) documentation.
  • Assist Head of Design and Pre-Construction team with preparing Scope of Service/appointment documents for design consultants.
  • Assist Head of Design and Pre-Construction team with preparing Design Responsibility Matrix (DRM).
Project Delivery
  • Attend project launch/handover meetings.
  • Manage consultants and specialist sub-contractor activities, working with commercial teams to negotiate appointments.
  • Familiarize yourself with and review Contract Documents, advising the project team accordingly.
  • Develop and manage Construction Information Release Schedule (IRS).
  • Attend scope review meetings (where applicable) and prior to tender enquiries being sent with QS/CM/PM resources.
  • Manage design against Employers Requirements (ERs).
  • Ensure regular and transparent communication between design, operational, and commercial colleagues throughout the project.
  • Attend Project Contract Review Meetings.
  • Review quality and installation compliance during site visits and highlight potential issues to the project team.
  • Check/verify and comment on the Project Risk & Opportunity Register when available.
  • Ensure Schedule of Samples are issued and signed off in a timely manner.
  • Organize and chair Design Team Meetings (DTMs) and/or Design Workshops as required, ensuring Agenda is issued and meeting minutes are taken and distributed in accordance with department processes and procedures.
  • Input into client progress reports (where required).
  • Ensure O&M Manuals/Building logs are collated and issued in a timely manner by relevant parties.
Project Completion
  • Provide support and assistance to Defects & Aftercare department as required.
  • Assist with preparing information for project lessons learned review meetings.
