About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Support Assistant to join our team at a specialist day school for pupils aged 11 to 18 with a wide range of needs. The successful candidate will work on a 1:1 basis with a child, providing support and guidance to help them achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor the pupil's response to learning activities and adapt them as needed to achieve intended outcomes
  • Provide positive encouragement, feedback, and praise to reinforce and sustain the pupil's efforts and develop self-reliance and self-esteem
  • Support the pupil in developing social skills both in and out of the classroom
  • Assist with playground and break time supervision
  • Aid the pupil to learn as effectively as possible in group situations and on their own

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have experience working with challenging individuals, preferably in a school or similar setting. However, we are open to applications from candidates with experience in care, residential, youth work, prison service, or sports coaching. The successful candidate will be flexible, willing to work with groups of pupils, and able to adapt to challenging environments.
