We are seeking an experienced legal operations professional to join our team as the Director of Legal Operations and Innovation. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to help shape and define our new Legal Operations Directorate.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the establishment of our newly created Legal Operations Directorate, including designing the structure and functions.
- Develop and implement a strategic approach to harnessing the benefits of innovation, including the adoption and use of relevant technology and autonomous systems.
- Ensure the Legal Operations Directorate meets the needs of the Government Legal Department in terms of timely, proportionate, and value-for-money legal support services.
- Develop and implement effective and efficient legal operational services, including through the use of relevant technology and autonomous systems.
- Enhance the Government Legal Department's knowledge management functions.
- Develop and implement a strategic approach to harnessing the benefits of innovation, including the adoption and use of relevant technology and autonomous systems.
- Develop and lead the Legal Communities Division to ensure we are maximising our impact in the external relations space with particular emphasis on the wider legal sector and its regulatory and representative bodies.
- Extensive experience of leading, developing, or transforming a legal operations function in a legal services provider, in-house legal function, or other legal service provision context.
- Sufficient understanding and experience of legal enterprise software, tools, and applications to be able to develop our strategic approach to its adoption and use.
- The ability to manage workloads and resources across a multi-disciplinary team, utilising external resource appropriately, with a demonstrable track record of improving effectiveness and efficiency of enabling services and value for money.
- Proficiency in budget management and a good understanding of external assurance through auditors.
- The leadership skills to inspire and empower professional staff in a team with scale and complexity, supporting talent development, building a strong culture of continuous learning, flexibility, and knowledge sharing.
- Exceptional communication and relationship building skills, capable of building deep collaborative partnerships with senior leaders, other government departments, public bodies, and other organisations, as well as an ability to influence and engage peers across a large, complex organisation and to engender the trust and confidence of senior stakeholders, including Ministers.
- A commitment to diversity, to creating a truly inclusive working environment, and to the core Civil Service values of integrity, honesty, objectivity, and impartiality.
- Experience as a practising lawyer or a legal qualification.
- A salary of £98,000.
