About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Directorate Manager to join our senior management team at Northampton General Hospital. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of operational areas within the allocated services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and delivery of the Directorates/Divisions short, medium, and long-term strategies and service development plans, in line with the Trust's vision, values, and strategic goals.
  • Support the Clinical Director and team to enable them to deliver excellent performance in the following domains:
    • Operational management
    • Financial management
    • Service development
    • Performance improvement
  • Manage both PTL and Diagnostic performance in line with national standards.
  • Participate in the Trust's Manager on Call Rota.
Requirements
  • Significant management experience, in a complex organisation at senior level, including operational responsibility.
  • Experience of producing information, monitoring performance, and identifying opportunities for service improvement.
  • Sound understanding of financial reporting mechanisms and budget management and setting.
  • Proven track record of achieving challenging healthcare targets.
  • Experience and knowledge of short, medium, and long-term strategy and business planning techniques and managing business processes.
  • Evidence of delivering significant cost improvement programmes.
  • Experience of monitoring data and information on performance and highlighting variances.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience of developing and advising other staff at a more senior level than the post holder.
  • Experience of working on projects and/or in a complex programme environment.
  • Experience of managing and hearing performance issues.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience of working within the NHS within an acute hospital environment.
  • Experience of leading change programmes.
  • Understanding of quality assurance processes and their application.
  • Experience of working within a devolved management structure.
  • Experience using SQL.
  • Experience of data analysis and data modelling tools.
