  • General Day-to-Day Cleaning
    • Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing floors
    • Vacuum cleaning of carpets
    • Damp dusting and polishing furniture, fixtures, and fittings
    • Cleaning of sanitary areas
    • Replenishing paper products, soap, and other essentials
    • Disposing of refuse
    • Bed making in residences and on-call doctors' rooms (where applicable)
    • Sorting linen and maintaining linen levels (where applicable)
  • Periodic/Specialist Cleaning
    • Shampooing carpets and furniture
    • Changing cubicle and window curtains (where applicable)
    • Special or intensive cleaning at supervisors' request
    • Thorough cleaning of beds, lockers, bed tables, etc. following patient discharge (where applicable)
    • Special cleaning of infectious or infected areas (HPV)
    • Window cleaning (where applicable)
    • Ensuring all equipment is cleaned and correctly stored
  • Kitchen Duties/Patient Services (where applicable)
    • Collecting, washing, and redistributing water jugs and tumblers

Knowledge and Skills

  • Understanding the need for attention to detail

Desirable

  • Basic understanding of the health service and awareness of national standards of cleanliness

Experience

  • Ability to communicate well with staff, patients, and members of the public
  • Ability to deal with unpleasant spillages

  • Understanding the need to exercise confidently, sensitivity, and awareness of the demands placed on cleaning services staff

Qualifications

  • NVQ level 1 or 2 in cleaning and support services
  • BICSc LTP

General

  • Able to fulfill the health requirements of the post as identified in the job description, taking into account any reasonable adjustments recommended by occupational health
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK
  • Ability to work in various locations throughout the network of services provided by the company/CHFT
  • A willingness to rotate all areas of work within cleaning services
