Overview: We are collaborating with a prominent entity in the automotive sector, dedicated to advancing and advocating for the industry's interests, fostering innovation, sustainability, and economic development. They are in search of a proficient Data Governance and Compliance Lead.

Role Summary: The selected individual will be instrumental in overseeing and protecting personal information, ensuring adherence to GDPR and other pertinent regulations. This position requires close collaboration with multiple departments to offer guidance and support on data protection, cybersecurity, and compliance issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of all data processes within the organization, detailing how data is collected, stored, accessed, shared, and ultimately disposed of. Ensure that personal data is handled in compliance with all applicable data protection laws and procedures.
  • Design and document a strategy to uphold customer and member compliance with the organization's vehicle data licenses.
  • Review and update policies and procedures governing the Group Compliance Program and its related activities to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct.
  • Work in conjunction with other departments and the broader organization through a Data and Compliance Group to address data and compliance matters through established channels for investigation and resolution. Consult with legal leadership as necessary to tackle complex legal compliance challenges.
  • Investigate reported breaches of rules, regulations, policies, and standards of conduct, recommending the initiation of investigative processes when appropriate. Develop and manage a standardized approach for addressing such breaches.
  • Act as an independent entity to ensure that compliance concerns within the organization are thoroughly evaluated, investigated, and resolved.
  • Oversee and coordinate compliance activities across Group departments, staying informed about the status of all compliance initiatives and identifying trends.
  • Identify potential compliance vulnerabilities and data risks within the organization and its tier 1 suppliers; develop and implement corrective action plans to address these issues, providing guidance on prevention and resolution.
  • Prepare and deliver regular reports (e.g., compliance and cybersecurity reports) to keep senior management and Group Boards informed about compliance operations and progress.
  • Establish an effective communication strategy regarding data and compliance for the organization and external parties, promoting awareness of compliance standards and related policies.
  • Collaborate with all Group departments and external parties to maintain a robust compliance training program, including introductory training for new hires and ongoing training for all staff and management.
  • Continuously monitor the performance of data, compliance, and cybersecurity risk management activities, taking necessary actions to enhance security effectiveness.
  • Engage and negotiate with all relevant stakeholders, both internal and external, regarding compliance aspects of Group operations.
  • Work closely with Data Intelligence on data security and compliance, IT on information security and ISO27001, Group companies to audit outsourcing and third-party risks, and TMO on privacy compliance and data security.

Qualifications / Skills / Attributes Required:

  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude.
  • A degree and a professional qualification (such as IAPP) are essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in data management and compliance roles, showcasing management and professional expertise.
  • Familiarity with financial, quality assurance, and human resource regulations and procedures.
  • Highly organized with a keen attention to detail.
  • Confident in report writing and oral presentations.
  • Self-motivated, capable of working independently while also following instructions effectively.
  • Proficient in ICT and eager to learn and adopt new technologies.
