Sous Chef

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team at Highwood Care Home. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of food quality and safety are maintained.

• Meal Preparation and Service: Prepare, cook, and serve a variety of hot and cold meals to meet the dietary needs and preferences of our residents.
• Menu Planning and Development: Collaborate with the Head Chef to plan and develop menus that offer a balanced and nutritious diet, utilizing fresh and seasonal ingredients.
• Kitchen Management and Operations: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring efficient food production, inventory management, and adherence to health and safety standards.
• Team Leadership and Collaboration: Work effectively with the kitchen team to achieve common goals, providing guidance and support as needed.
• Food Safety and Quality Control: Maintain accurate records of food supplies, monitor freezer and fridge temperatures, and conduct regular stock valuations to ensure food safety and quality.

• Culinary Qualifications: City & Guilds 706 1 & 2, or equivalent qualification (achieved or working towards).
• Teamwork and Communication: Ability to work effectively within a team, communicate with colleagues and residents, and understand dietary needs and preferences.
• Food Hygiene and Safety: Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, ensuring understanding and implementation of best practices in food safety.
• Initiative and Problem-Solving: Ability to work independently, take the lead in the kitchen, and resolve issues as they arise.

• Culinary Experience: Experience in preparing food tailored to the specific needs of residents, preferably in a care environment.
