Under the direct supervision of experienced mentors and technicians, the successful candidate will be trained in all aspects of Line Maintenance activities at UK Line Stations. This comprehensive training program aims to equip the individual with the necessary skills and knowledge to successfully gain the qualification of an aircraft Line Maintenance Engineer category "A".
Key Responsibilities- Practical application, observation, and learning of a wide range of technical skills and processes relating to aircraft maintenance.
- Developing highly skilled, complex, and specialist knowledge in maintaining aircraft systems according to Standard Operating Procedures.
- Actively learning and being assessed throughout the program to ensure full understanding of aircraft maintenance and technical competence.
- Participating in activities that cultivate a strong awareness for the quality, safety, and delivery of service to the supervision, learning to carry out approved processes to maintain and certify the airworthiness of the aircraft, including troubleshooting, the rectification of defects, modifications, and scheduled maintenance.
- Initial Training - Year 1 (100% Training & Education): Attend a 10-month training course at the Apprenticeship Training Center to undertake learning to an "A" license. Study and practice the application of various subjects within aviation, including maths, physics, electrical fundamentals, digital techniques/electronic instrument systems, materials & hardware, maintenance practices, basic aerodynamics, human factors, aviation legislation, airplane aerodynamics/structures and systems, gas turbines, and piston engines.
- Work Experience Training - Year 2 & 3 (50% Training and 50% Practical Experience): Continue with a work placement at a maintenance/repair facility for up to two years, gaining practical experience and undertaking work on aircraft under the direct guidance of a mentor.
- Self-motivated, well-organized, and flexible with a willingness to assist the team in any capacity.
- Ability to demonstrate a desire and willingness to learn, with a genuine interest in and passion for aircraft maintenance.
- Strong communication skills, self-motivation to learn and develop, and the ability to act on own initiative.
- Adaptability to change and the ability to follow direction and process in a respectful and compliant manner.
- Hold, or be predicted to obtain, the following grades before the apprenticeship: five GCSE grades 9-4 (A*-C) or equivalent, including Science, English, and Maths.
- Important qualification information: ineligibility for the apprenticeship if holding or due to achieve any of the following: C&G level 3 qualification in Aircraft HNC/HND or degree in EASA Part 66 A or B license, 2 NVQ in Performing Engineering Operations if achieved with aeronautical pathway/units.
