About The Team:

RPS Water Consulting comprises Engineers, Modellers, and Data Analysts dedicated to Asset Management and Operational Strategy development for our Water Industry clients, supporting their business planning and execution. This dynamic industry offers challenges and opportunities that demand innovation, commitment, and teamwork to fulfill our clients' requirements.

In addition to the framework mentioned, we collaborate with several major water companies throughout the UK, maintaining a diverse portfolio of long-term agreements.

Our Water Consultancy division is engaged in prestigious AMP8 programs leading into AMP9 and beyond, ensuring a stable career trajectory for the next two decades while leaving a meaningful legacy.

About You:

Candidates should have prior experience in urban drainage projects and proficiency in InfoWorks ICM along with relevant GIS software.

The ideal candidate will exhibit strong teamwork abilities and the capacity to integrate smoothly into a collaborative environment. They will also have opportunities to develop their skills as a mentor, providing technical guidance to other modelling professionals and demonstrating leadership in urban drainage while prioritizing exceptional client service.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Technical development and delivery of wastewater catchment strategies and solutions, including hydraulic modelling and analysis, model use studies, optioneering, and cost-benefit analysis, adhering to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Awareness of solution feasibility and engineering factors affecting buildability.
  • Continuous enhancement of tools, procedures, and processes to drive efficiency and innovation.
  • Ensuring quality outputs and compliance with standards, specifications, and governance requirements.
  • Travel to client locations or other RPS/Tetra Tech offices may be necessary.
  • Leading a team to establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with clients.
  • Line management of project team members, including day-to-day leadership, workload planning, technical direction, performance management, and career development.
  • Fostering collaboration with other RPS/Tetra Tech disciplines.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Familiarity with relevant legislation and water industry regulations.
  • Ability to manage or assist project managers in overseeing small to large projects and work packages.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using InfoWorks ICM and ICM Exchange.
  • Extensive expertise in hydraulic modelling, catchment planning, and related wastewater infrastructure, ensuring compliance with client standards and specifications.
  • Proficiency in MS 365 applications, particularly advanced Excel, PowerBI, and SharePoint.
  • Working knowledge of GIS Systems such as MapInfo, ArcGIS, or QGIS.
  • Experience with FME, Optimatics, Python, or similar tools is advantageous.

Qualifications:

  • Preferably degree qualified in a relevant technical field; postgraduate qualifications are a plus.
  • Chartered or in the process of obtaining chartership for Senior or Principal grades.
  • Affiliation with a professional institution such as IET, InstMC, or CIWEM, or nearing application for membership.
