Histopathology Laboratory Manager

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Biomedical Scientist to take on the role of Laboratory Manager as Maternity cover for a period of 12 months within our innovative and forward-thinking private histopathology laboratory.
About UsCellular Pathology Services Ltd (CPS) is a thriving and growing medical laboratory that undertakes both private and NHS work. We are UKAS accredited and IBMS approved for training at all levels.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure the highest quality services in Histopathology in a manner that optimises the growth and profitability of the Cellular Pathology Services Business through continued process improvement and best practice.
- Work with key third party vendors to ensure delivery of operational excellence.
- Ensure the laboratory and contracted partners comply with regulatory standards, such as CQC, UKAS, and Corporate Health, Safety and Environment standards.
- Support Business Development functions utilising broad skill base and technical knowledge.
- Work with Directors and senior managers and their teams to ensure the needs of the business are fully met.
- Act as a leader and mentor for the day-to-day operation of the laboratory.
- Plan, schedule and oversee technical department operations to ensure the accurate, precise and timely testing of specimens, while achieving maximum productivity.
- Manage the laboratory environment and equipment to the highest standards so that there are no interruptions to business activities on site and remotely.
- Manage stock control and laboratory assets (on site and remote) in conjunction with the office manager and Business compliance executive.
- Liaise with the Director of Compliance for all aspects relating to regulatory compliance such as Quality management and Health & Safety.
- Be technical lead with technical expertise in lab techniques.
- Operational management experience at a senior level with a laboratory in the discipline of Cellular Pathology.
- Experience of managing, engaging and continually improving the workforce.
- Full UK driving licence and access to their own vehicle.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Personally motivated, self-driven with a keen interest in the work and able to work alone.
- Satisfactory health check by Occupational Health if offer of post is made.
- Satisfactory references following verbal offer of employment.
- Hold or eligible to hold Fellowship of the IBMS through Institute Higher Specialist Diploma or Diploma of Higher Specialist Practice; or hold MSc in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent.
- Evidence of CPD.
- HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist in relevant discipline.
