We are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic Senior Project Engineer to join our Engineering team at Forseven. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering electrical systems and power distribution solutions that meet our high standards of quality and innovation.
Key Responsibilities- Electrical Systems Design and Development: Collaborate with system engineers to define electrical interface requirements for all electrical components, and deliver commodities within budget through regular supplier liaison and tracking DVP status.
- Project Management: Own and manage design and development tasks relating to low/high voltage wiring, fusing systems, and electrical power distribution, including the creation of specifications, drawings, reports, and sign-off documentation.
- Supplier Management: Manage full-service suppliers, build-to-print suppliers, and/or externally resourced circuit & 2D design across various prototype and development builds.
- Component Data Management: Create, check, update, and approve component data sheets and schematics in conjunction with other function groups, technical partners, and Tier 1 suppliers.
- Quality and Compliance: Provide guidance to cross-functional teams and ensure that wiring and electrical hardware are correctly located in line with vehicle architecture and packaged in accordance with installation, environmental, and EMC requirements.
- Issue Management: Actively participate and represent EDS in system reviews, sub-system reviews, design reviews, DFMEA reviews, and verification & validation reviews.
- Change Management: Manage issues to closure from fault identification through to resolution using the 8D process.
- Harness Management: Release ownership of Harnesses and manage changes internally, engineering service providers, and suppliers.
- Engineering Sign-off: Responsible for DFMEA, Routing Quality Assessment (RQA), DVP&R (Electrical & Mechanical), PV sign-off, Engineering Sign-off.
- Supplier Coordination: Manage Tier 1 supplier relationships and coordination, including support for Procurement, Logistics, and Quality throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prototype and Development Support: Support various prototype and development builds, including labcar/test rig build where required at manufacturing facilities.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with other departments, such as Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Programs, Logistics, Service, and Workshops.
- Training and Development: Provide support and training to Manufacturing and Service departments as required.
- Automotive Industry Experience: Understanding of the Automotive New Product Development Process, Milestones, and deliverables for each phase.
- Electrical Systems Knowledge: Demonstrable experience of automotive electrical wiring and power distribution system design, development, and manufacturing.
- Regulatory Compliance: Good experience and knowledge of vehicle electrical systems, ECUs, and other electrically wired components, EMC, and other regulatory requirements.
- Vehicle Architecture Knowledge: Knowledge of hybrid and full-electric electrical vehicle architectures and wiring systems would be advantageous.
- Design and Development Tools: Experience of visualisation using CATIA V5 or V6 or lightweight file viewers would be useful.
- 2D Drawing and Circuit Design: Excellent understanding of 2D drawings, electrical circuits is required for the job. However, it is desirable to have working knowledge in circuit design or 2D drawing creation using Capital-Harness or Arcadia.
- Harness Change Management: Experience in creating Harness Change Requests and managing the implementation of the changes through design release and suppliers.
- Harness Reworks and Interrogation: Understanding of harnesses re-works and interrogate vehicle circuits. Hands-on experience of minor electrical reworks is highly desirable.
- Quality and Compliance Frameworks: Experience of system/component delivery within an APQP, six sigma, or similar framework (FMEA, quality planning, PPAP, etc.).
- Harness Complexity Management: Experience in managing harness complexities, component databases (DTs).
- Harness Testing and Validation: Experience in harness testing & validation process and engineering sign-off.
- Engineering Development Tools: Ability to use various engineering development tools and collaborative platforms such as Microsoft Office 365.
- Education and Qualifications: Honours Degree in Electrical, or Honours degree in areas such as Electronics, Control Systems, Automotive is acceptable with relevant experience in the field or other recognised engineering qualifications combined with relevant significant experience will be considered.
