Position Overview

The Finance and Planning Division at NHS England is seeking skilled and driven individuals to join the Transformation Directorate Business Partner team as a Finance and Planning Partnership Manager within Financial Planning and Analysis.

This role presents an exceptional opportunity to contribute significantly to the support of the NHS. Our key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating closely with governmental bodies to establish NHS funding;
  • Ensuring adherence to the NHS's annual financial plan;
  • Determining the allocation of funds across various NHS services and regions;
  • Facilitating innovative initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care and experiences;
  • Defining the financial and performance objectives for the NHS each year;
  • Reporting on the annual expenditure of the NHS in service provision;
  • Investigating optimal financial resource utilization within the NHS;
  • Assessing how investments in infrastructure or equipment can elevate patient care and experiences;
  • Evaluating national resource allocation to enhance healthcare outcomes, mitigate disparities, and bolster the NHS.

In this position, you will collaborate with a team of proficient finance and planning experts. Your analytical and organizational capabilities will be essential in consolidating and preparing comprehensive reports (including narratives) and budgets.

  • Professional qualifications (CCAB or equivalent);
  • Proven experience in utilizing financial planning, analysis, forecasting, and communication skills to deliver accurate financial insights;
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure precision in financial reporting and compliance with governance standards;
  • Ability to interpret intricate financial data, think strategically, and provide insightful analysis;
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for clear presentation of financial information;
  • Monitoring and adjusting budgets and forecasts;
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to generate valuable insights for stakeholders and cost-effective solutions;
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools, including Excel, Oracle, Power BI, or other budgeting, analysis, and reporting applications.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Professional finance qualification (CCAB/CIMA or equivalent) along with substantial operational finance experience.

  • Understanding of governance, risk management, and current technical financial knowledge.
