About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager to join our team at STRABAG SE. As a key member of our Pre-Construction department, you will be responsible for leading and developing the design process for all tenders, negotiations, cost plans, and cost advice for construction works.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design Leadership: Lead and develop a culture of excellence with the design process, ensuring the highest quality offering in terms of competition and successful project execution.
  • Pre-Construction Design: Develop, demonstrate, and maintain the highest standards of offering from the Pre-Construction design function, including accuracy, risk assessment, and predictability of outcome.
  • Design Process Improvement: Develop and update the Pre-Construction design process to reflect changes in approach, quality management, and technology usage.
  • Design Team Collaboration: Lead and contribute to design team meetings, including specialist sub-contractor workshops.
  • Quality Outcomes: Drive quality outcomes that enhance buildability and promote excellent customer relationships.
  • Stakeholder Management: Sustain collaborative communications with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment with contractual commitments, compliance responsibilities, and STRABAG guiding principles.
  • Design Programme Alignment: Work collaboratively with stakeholders to deliver solutions aligned to commercial schedules and operational key milestones.
  • Common Data Environment: Manage the Common Data Environment (CDE), ensuring approvals are achieved on or ahead of programme.
  • Design Information Management: Oversee all digital design information and BIM activities in partnership with project team members.
  • Change Control: Manage and monitor the design aspects of 'change control', liaising with stakeholders regarding opportunities and potential risks.
  • Third-Party Consents: Manage and coordinate sustainability objectives, including BREEAM and Net Zero Carbon.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Complete monthly reporting activities, diligently reporting project/company KPIs.
  • Supply Chain Management: Contribute to the management of key Supply Chain relationships, ensuring STRABAG secures the best value, competitive offering during tender preparation.
  • Client Management: Develop high-functioning relationships with clients, including negotiations and developing client-specific offerings.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Degree or equivalent in Architecture, Construction Management, Civil Engineering.
  • CSCS Card: Possession of a CSCS Card.
  • Experience: Proven successful experience in Building projects, including undertaking the role of Design Manager.
  • Industry Knowledge: Extensive variety in types of work bid, experience of Private and Public sector Clients, IT Literate, and Full clean driving licence.
  • Professional Membership: Membership of a professional institution.
