Job Title: Automation Engineer

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific. As an Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions to improve manufacturing efficiency and productivity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement automation solutions to improve manufacturing efficiency and productivity.
  • Lead site and corporate important metric measures, including customer management, ensuring actions are completed on target.
  • Offer expertise and steer new product introductions on automation engineering topics to define activity required to deliver the automation strategy of the project.
  • Offer technical support on automation issues to the engineering and operations teams to resolve unplanned maintenance issues.
  • Lead continuous improvement automation projects to improve reliability of site equipment
  • Carry out crucial periodic software reviews to guarantee compliance with all regularity bodies
  • To act as client liaison when required and work closely with respective counterparts as client site to align processes across multiple manufacturing sites.
  • To offer mentorship and expertise to the engineering maintenance team in problem solving issues associated with site wide utilities, including, be not just restricted to purified water, pure steam, and calibrated equipment.
  • Ensure cGMP is applied in the work area and aligns with cGMP through following site SOP's
  • Offer mentorship and support to a small team of engineers, to ensure compliance with site wide preventative maintenance schedules
  • Ability to empower, communicate and lead their own team and multi-functional teams to deliver project timelines
Requirements:
  • Engineering degree qualified and/or with advanced, shown experience in PLC controlled production facilities.
  • Experience in Allen Bradley PLC programming from first principles as well as advanced fault finding in both local control environments and network systems.
  • Strong project management background within, for example, production engineering, process engineering within a regulated environment
  • Strong problem solving capabilities with urgency to resolve
  • Client facing experience preferred.
