Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Instructor to teach graduate courses in school and mental health counseling. The successful candidate will possess a Doctorate degree in Counselor Education and Supervision or a relevant discipline, and be licensed as a Professional Counselor (LPC) or pursuing one of these credentials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach graduate courses in school and mental health counseling
  • Advise students as required
  • Participate in scholarly activities and contribute to university and program development
  • Hold office hours as designated by the University and meet with the Department Chair for departmental meetings
Requirements
  • Doctorate degree in Counselor Education and Supervision or a relevant discipline
  • Licensed as a Professional Counselor (LPC) or pursuing one of these credentials
  • Considerable knowledge of and expertise in teaching counseling
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate to a diverse student-body audience, both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated ability to grasp and advocate an institution's teaching and learning philosophy
  • Experience, aptitude, and professional disposition in collaborating on the local, regional, and national levels in counseling
  • Proficiency in and commitment to distance learning via online modalities
