Automation Support Engineer

Müller Milk & Ingredients is seeking an experienced Automation Support Engineer to join our team in Droitwich. As a key member of our site team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing systems to improve site automation performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide reactive support for site automation issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to production.
  2. Lead minor automation Capex projects, from conception to completion, ensuring alignment with site and group objectives.
  3. Collaborate with the Automation Development team to deliver site projects with automation elements, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.
  4. Maintain and monitor the use of automation and electrical system software, ensuring version control and documentation are up-to-date.
  5. Liaise with the Automation Development team to provide site perspective on group automation and electrical standards, ensuring compliance and best practices.
  6. Evaluate performance data to inform automation OE activity, driving improvements in efficiency and operability within production.
  7. Own the site panel risk assessment register, conducting periodic health checks and implementing remedial actions as needed.
  8. Provide specialist automation support to site improvement initiatives, leveraging expertise to drive business outcomes.
  9. Utilize specialist skills and systems access to validate and analyze site data, supporting quality improvement activities.
  10. Encourage engineering-based OE projects, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  11. Support site roadmaps for Quality, HS, EMS, Engineering, and Autonomous maintenance, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  12. Support improvement activities and events within engineering-owned areas, fostering a collaborative environment.
  13. Stay aware of current performance impacts on the bottom line, driving data-driven decision-making.
  14. Deliver on-the-job training to new colleagues, ensuring knowledge transfer and skills development.
Requirements:
  1. Strong Allen Bradley PLC experience, with a proven track record of delivering automation solutions.
  2. Excellent electrical skills, with a deep understanding of electrical systems and automation principles.
  3. Ability to work independently on projects, with a strong focus on results and delivery.
  4. Experience in a similar Automation Engineer role, with a proven ability to drive business outcomes.
  5. FMCG industry experience is preferred, with a strong understanding of the sector's unique challenges and opportunities.
  6. IT literacy is essential, with a strong ability to work with automation software and systems.
