Cheshire and Wirral Partnership Trust is seeking a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist to become part of our esteemed team.
Position Overview
This role is a replacement position situated within the South East Locality of our Trust. The Consultant will be integrated into the clinical service unit focusing on secure and rehabilitation services, which encompasses multiple inpatient units and a forensic outreach team. This vacancy arises from the transition of the previous post-holder to another role within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to engage in 10 programmed activities weekly, which will be divided into 7.5 hours of Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and 2.5 hours of Supporting Professional Activities (SPA). Participation in an on-call rota is also required, with an additional 1 PA allocated for emergency responsibilities. Initial duties will be discussed with the Speciality Clinical Director of Adult Mental Health Services and may include:
- Providing clinical leadership for a 15-bed adult mental health low secure rehabilitation unit.
- Overseeing 7 step-down rehabilitation beds.
- Leading discussions regarding referrals to these units through the designated referral meeting.

Eligibility Criteria
Essential Qualifications
- Full registration with the GMC and a valid license to practice.
- Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility within six months.
- Approved clinician status or ability to achieve within three months of appointment.
- Approval under S12 or ability to achieve within three months of appointment.
- Good standing with the GMC regarding warnings or conditions.
- In-depth knowledge of the specialty.
- Strong clinical skills with a bio-psycho-social perspective.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
- Decision-making based on evidence and collaborative input.
- Ability to fulfill duties under MHA and MCA.
- Broad range of specialist experience relevant to the position.
