Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Position Overview

We invite applications for the role of Senior Clinical Fellow (ST6+) specializing in Cardiology with a focus on Cardiac Imaging.

Key Responsibilities

To be eligible, candidates must fulfill the essential criteria outlined in the person specification.

You will collaborate closely with experienced imaging cardiologists and radiologists to develop expertise in managing and interpreting complex echocardiography and cardiac CT examinations, as well as cardiac MRI.

This position does not include a General Medicine component, nor does it require out-of-hours on-call or weekend duties.

Please be aware that this role does not have Postgraduate Dean's approval or training recognition.

Applicants must hold Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council at the time of application.

Working Environment

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills in English, including listening, reading, writing, and speaking, to effectively engage with patients and colleagues regarding medical topics, as outlined in the GMC's Good Medical Practice. Non-UK applicants must complete the IELTS/OET exam prior to obtaining a GMC licence to practice.

We welcome applications from individuals requiring skilled worker sponsorship to work in the UK, which will be considered alongside all other submissions. For additional information, please refer to the UK Visas and Immigration website.

Skilled worker applicants seeking entry clearance into the UK must provide a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided in for 12 months or more within the last decade. This requirement also applies to adult dependants (over 18 years old).

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is committed to equal opportunities in employment.

Detailed Job Responsibilities

A significant aspect of this Imaging role is to improve the quality and efficiency of the stress echocardiography service. This involves conducting in-reach reviews of patients admitted with chest pain, identifying those who may benefit from prompt (same-day) stress echocardiography or other imaging modalities, and coordinating with relevant services to ensure swift assessment, treatment, and discharge of patients as necessary.

The Echocardiography Department comprises a large team of BSE-accredited Cardiac Physiologists, supported by three consultants, conducting approximately 18,000 standard and complex studies (including transoesophageal, stress, and bubble echocardiography) annually. The department actively trains Specialty Registrars tailored to their individual experience and needs, and has recently achieved re-accreditation with BSE.
