Our client is a globally renowned medical device manufacturer, that is investing heavily into their operations and is now looking for a Production Engineer to join the team.
Job Purpose:
Support new and existing products within the production environment, ensuring seamless manufacturing processes and efficient production workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Equipment Management:
- Provide production with effective test and process equipment, ensuring proper documentation and maintenance, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Assist in the validation of manufacturing processes, including the development and implementation of new test and production methods.
- Serve as the primary contact with process equipment manufacturers and maintenance providers, ensuring timely and effective resolution of equipment-related issues.
Production Support:
- Collaborate across departments to swiftly resolve production issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity.
Technical Support:
- Act as the primary liaison between R&D and production for technical concerns, providing expert advice and guidance on manufacturing processes and production-related issues.
- Advise on alternative electronic components to replace obsolete items on PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assemblies), ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Manage PCBA Parts Lists and ensure relevant teams are informed of component obsolescence, ensuring timely and effective resolution of component-related issues.
New Product Introduction (NPI):
- Represent production engineering in NPI project teams, advising on manufacturing aspects and ensuring seamless integration of new products into production workflows.
- Coordinate pilot and pre-production build phases to align with project goals, ensuring timely and effective resolution of production-related issues.
- Develop production-related documentation, such as build instructions and test procedures, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Managing Change:
- Raise change requests for manufacturing processes and documentation, ensuring timely and effective resolution of production-related issues.
- Compile engineering change notes for process improvements, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Manage trial batches for production process alterations, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity.
Health & Safety:
- Complete COSHH assessments and support other H&S activities as needed, ensuring a safe and healthy working environment.
- Undertake additional duties as required to meet company objectives, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
Essential:
- Experience in electronic product manufacturing, including the development and implementation of new test and production methods.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.), including the development and implementation of production-related documentation.
- Ability to interpret electronic circuit diagrams and component datasheets, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Minimum qualification: HNC/HND in Electronics, or equivalent experience.
- Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze and resolve production-related issues.
Desirable:
- Experience managing test equipment for PCBAs, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with LabView-controlled functional test systems, ensuring seamless integration of new products into production workflows.
- Basic mechanical engineering knowledge, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Experience managing component obsolescence, ensuring timely and effective resolution of component-related issues.
Personal Qualities:
- Strong team player, able to collaborate across departments to resolve production-related issues.
