Position Overview

The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is on the lookout for dedicated and skilled Senior Clinical Sonographers at Band 8a level, available for both full-time and part-time roles.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Clinical Sonographer, you will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive ultrasound services across various departments, including:

  • Main Ultrasound Departments
  • Antenatal Clinic
  • Fetal Medicine Unit
  • Acute Gynaecology
  • Early Pregnancy Unit

Your clinical expertise will be essential in ensuring high-quality service delivery. A Post Graduate Certificate/Diploma in ultrasound (PgDip) or DMU qualification is a prerequisite for this position.

Your independent practice will encompass:

  • Conducting and reporting on your own ultrasound sessions
  • Mentoring and teaching students

Support for consultant sonographers and management will be integral to this advanced Band 8a position.

Note that cross-site rotation may be necessary based on service requirements.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • DCR or BSc diploma/degree or equivalent
  • PGDip in medical ultrasound / DMU equivalent
  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
  • HCPC or relevant professional registration

Experience Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • Significant experience at a Band 8a level
  • Experience collaborating with clinical leads to enhance services
  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team
  • Exposure to various ultrasound specialties, including obstetrics/gynaecology, abdominal, small parts, musculoskeletal, and breast imaging
